Become a Bright Now Champion
Church investors and members of church decision-making bodies have a key role in ensuring that church investments support the transition to a zero-carbon economy.
Through letters and meetings with church investors and decision makers, Bright Now supporters have contributed to significant changes in church investment policy. Some churches and faith communities, including Quakers in Britain and the United Reformed Church in Scotland, have already fully divested from fossil fuel companies. Others, such as the Church of England, Methodist Church and United Reformed Church, have divested from coal and tar sands companies but continue to invest in oil and gas companies.
Here are some of the ways you could get involved as a Bright Now Champion:
- Write to church investors urging them to divest from fossil fuels and invest in clean, renewable energy
- Work with others to build up support for divestment in your local Diocese, District or Synod
- Get your local church involved
Do you agree that UK churches should take the lead in divesting from fossil fuels and investing in clean energy?
